Looking for a Technology Support Specialist for a special education school (K-21) in Manhattan, NY (multiple locations). First of all, you must be a “people person” because you are going to be interfacing with all staff and students. This is a hands-on, Level I support position — all “nuts and bolts” — where you will be troubleshooting Apple equipment (MacBooks, iPads, iPhones, etc.) as well as PC equipment (desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, mobile devices, etc.), SMART boards, phone systems, copiers, time clocks, and other technology as needed. Job Title: Technology Support Specialist (Full Time)

Supervisor: Director of Technology

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Status: Exempt

Term: 12-month

Job Overview:

The Technology Support Specialist performs user administration and supports all hardware and software at the Cooke School and Institute and helps to maintain servers and network environments.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and set priorities within time constraints
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, problem solve and manage multiple projects
  • Hardware support knowledge of both Mac and PC
  • Be highly customer oriented
  • Knowledge of assistive technology devices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2008 – 2016, Microsoft Active Directory
  • Advanced knowledge of MacOS and iOS
  • G-Suite administration experience and other cloud services
  • Knowledge of wireless technology and troubleshooting
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 4 years experience in technology support preferably in a K12 environment
  • Current A+ certification

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage help desk ticketing system and respond to trouble tickets
  • Assists in management and maintenance of hardware and the school’s physical infrastructure
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Mac and PC desktop and laptop computers
  • Assists with user administration for staff and students for email, network accounts and subscription services
  • Maintain hardware inventory
  • In collaboration with the Director of Educational Technology:
  • maintain software inventory and track software licenses
  • Track application purchases
  • Maintain iPads
  • Configuration and maintenance of printers, scanners and copiers
  • Phone system support
  • Regular maintenance of smartboards and contact with vendor for support
  • Keep up to date with technology changes in the field of education
  • Communicate regularly with Technology Director, provide suggestions for improvement to technology infrastructure
  • Maintain AV equipment and assist in setups for school assemblies and meetings, which may include after-hours events, such as school performances, etc.
  • Attend technology meetings
