Keeping Up With Cooke – Our Reading Rockstars!

Our Mission Moments

Cooke Mission Moment

Two hundred and forty five Cooke staff, from all four sites, came together for our quarterly professional development day to prepare for our 5-year NYSAIS accreditation review. Everyone was asked to share a “Mission Moment,” an example of Cooke’s mission in action.  Staff was asked to share impactful memories and proud moments they have experienced at Cooke.

The team presentations from these group meetings were amazing! We’ve included a few videos for you to enjoy… (click images to watch videos)

Cooke’s Reading Rockstars

Million Minute Reading Challenge

Cooke Academy high school students and staff have launched a MILLION MINUTE READING CHALLENGE. Cooke Grammar School students and staff have joined the effort to reach the million minutes goal by June. If they succeed, Cooke Academy Division Head, Mary Clancy, will dye her hair pink!

To achieve 1,000,000 minutes of reading, each student and staff member uses a reading log to track their accomplishments. So far, the current total for staff and students is…143, 395 minutes! Congrats to all Cooke readers on their amazing progress!

Lost and Found

Lost and Found Exhibit

Collaborative art work by Cooke students is on display at the School of Visual Arts, in a show called “Lost and Found.” The show runs from February 9th through March 2, with a special reception on Thursday, February 21, 6-8PM.

Reception Information

Thanks to Jay Chang, Cooke’s resident Art Therapy Intern, the artwork shows our students’ capacity to tell their unique stories and gain perspective from each other’s “worlds.” With a superhero-themed approach, Jay has captured each student as a caricature, honoring them for being the “Thinkers,” that they are!

Don’t forget about the special reception:  Thursday, February 21, 6-8PM. (Click image for details)
