Keeping Up with Cooke: 2020 Virtual Graduations

Cooke Celebrates Our 71 Graduates

While quarantine and virtual learning posed its challenges, our students, completed the school year stronger, wiser and smarter.

We are extremely proud of all of our grads! With help from their amazing teachers and families, they’ve earned this accomplishment through their hard work and focus.

Check out the video montage of all 3 of our graduation ceremonies.

Keeping the Conversation Going

As we move into the summer months, and begin our breaks, we want to keep the conversations around racial equality and social justice in the forefront of our minds and hearts. Recent events have had a profound impact on the lives of our students and families, and it is our intent to continue speaking against injustice and honoring the diversity that exists within our community.

Check out these resources––the 13 principles of BLM, reading suggestions, films and resources for educators––all of which will help us to keep actively learning about equality and social justice issues.

We Read for 1,000,000 Minutes!

We did it! The Cooke Community reached (and exceeded) its 1,000,000 minute reading goal for the 2019-2020 school year! Our students, staff, and families were focused on our goal, creating new reading routines at home, and logging the number of minutes spent reading each week. We also received more than 40 peer-to-peer book recommendations. Check out some of the books that have already been added to our summer reading list, with more to come.

We were lucky enough to receive messages from some of our books’ authors, encouraging us to learn about ourselves and others through reading. We are very excited about this amazing community accomplishment. Below are some of the book recommendations that our community has shared. We will share a complete list of summer reading recommendations in the coming weeks.
