SKILLs (Skills and Knowledge for Independent Learning and Living) is a program designed for 18-21 year old students to round out the academic, social, and life skills needed to make the transition from high school to adulthood. Located in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and close to mass transit, SKILLS offers continued academics in core subject areas. In addition, students can take advantage of all that New York City has to offer: using libraries, parks, museums, gyms and recreation centers as living classrooms.
SKILLs facilitates the transition to adulthood through:
- Specific life skill courses (cooking, travel, apartment living)
- Vocational training
- Academic experiences
- Volunteering and Paid Internships
An active Cooke Alumni Association offers recreational opportunities, ongoing support and continuing education to Cooke graduates.
