We are educators and leaders just like you. Our coaches and consultants have vast experience and a passion for sharing their knowledge. We’ve honed our craft and pedagogy in some of the most diverse schools across New York City. Now, we bring our expertise to your classrooms. Together, we’ll make sure every student’s learning needs are met.

• The Cooke Institute (CI), founded in 1995, is a division of the Cooke School. Over the years, CI has become a recognized leader in special education and inclusion coaching, professional development and teacher consulting.

• CI is an approved vendor of New York City Department of Education professional development for leaders and teachers and a sponsor of New York State Education Continuing Teacher and Leader Education credits (CTLE).

• CI partners with NYC schools (particularly in under-served and under-resourced communities) to support educators. Together we fulfill our mission to improve the educational outcomes for all students.

• Our clients include public, parochial, independent and charter schools, community-based organizations throughout NYS and higher education programs.



We provide differentiated coaching and professional development through partnerships with schools, districts, and community-based early childhood organizations. We empower educators as they gain new knowledge and skills to implement evidence-based practices and new teaching approaches to reach every student.

• First, we listen and plan a customized coaching or consulting plan that meets the needs of your school or organization. We create plans based on the goals and action steps you identify and support and extend learning throughout the engagement.

• We make sure that our coaching/professional development plans fit your organization’s culture and mission to have the greatest impact on teachers, educators and school leaders (and the students they serve).

We work from within your school or organization, working with teachers as they gain real-time support, practice and mastery with new teaching methods and classroom management techniques to ensure the best student outcomes.
Our on-site coaching services span 3K through 8th grade in these areas.

Literacy Coaching

Cooke’s highly-trained literacy coaches empower educators to deliver lessons that integrate evidence-based practices aligned to state standards. Our coaches support and enable teachers to use explicit, systematic and developmentally appropriate methodology to teach reading and writing with confidence and skill. 

Special Education and Inclusive Coaching

CI coaches work to elevate a school’s  culture of inclusion by supporting general and special education teachers and leaders with the tools to feel confident and equipped to effectively teach students with a wide range of needs. The result: every student’s unique learning, behavior and social-emotional needs are met.

Early Childhood Coaching

We understand the demands early childhood educators face. We work with teachers and teaching assistants in real-time to identify their goals, design action steps and apply best practices to differentiate instruction.

Leadership Coaching

 Our coaches lead schools and programs with distinction! We support school leaders (principals, assistant principals, educational directors) to increase their effectiveness as they educate the next generation of learners.
