Important Information Regarding a Cooke COVID-19 Vaccination Policy (Voluntary)

In accordance with Cooke School and Institute’s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our employees, and their families, our students, visitors, and the community at large, from infectious diseases such as COVID-19 or influenza, that may be reduced by vaccinations. This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable.

Scope

All employees are encouraged to receive vaccinations as determined by Cooke Policy.

Procedures

Cooke School and Institute has provided a link to locations to assist employees in receiving vaccines on their own: https://vaccinefinder.nyc.gov/

For offsite vaccinations, employees are to work with their supervisors to schedule an appropriate time to comply with this policy.

Employees should provide proof of vaccination by uploading a screenshot of their 2nd dose to Cooke’s SmartVault portal.  Cooke recognizes those, who by doctor’s orders, may not receive the vaccine and are asked to provide a doctor’s note. Your information uploaded in our SmartVault is safe and secure and is approved to be HIPAA compliant. Please note that all your information is strictly confidential.

We continue to mandate the use of masks, social distancing, and proper hand-washing to all staff during working hours and encourage it outside the workplace to help lessen the spread.

Please direct any questions regarding this policy to the Human Resources department, HRTeam@cookeschool.org.

The Wellness Committee will be offering strategies, resources, and support to the amazing Cooke School and Institute staff. As a reminder, we’ve attached the self-care wheel from the PD by Ben Yost and Adam Stevens that took place earlier this year.

The Self-Care Wheel

The Self-Care Wheel is an empowering, affirming, and positive tool, which helps individuals to manage everyday stress, and increase contentment and life satisfaction. Practicing effective self care means finding a balance between the six sectors, each of which requires our daily attention. Learn more about using the Self-Care Wheel by clicking here.

Join Our Book Club

The Wellness Committee will be hosting a book club. The first meeting will be on Monday, February 22nd at 4:30pm. We will be reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. You can purchase the book or read the first agreement below. Please read the first agreement before the meeting if you can or just come to listen and be heard. It is a very short book!

Here is the book description: “The Four Agreements reveals the source of self-limiting beliefs that rob people of joy and create needless suffering. Based on ancient Toltec wisdom, the Four Agreements—be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, always do your best—offer a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform life into a new experience of freedom, love, and true happiness.” Click here to read the first agreement!

Cooke IT Update

The Technology (IT) team has taken on two new temps: Imanuel Agard and Robert Brown. They will be working from our Lower School and Transitions buildings for the next few weeks. Imanuel and Robert are personable, highly-skilled IT professionals who are happy to assist you. Please continue to send all support tickets to: helpdesk@cookeschool.org for collection and resolution. This allows us to get ahead of any issues and maximize our productivity.

A common question we have received is: How do I dial using 4-digit extensions?

Here are the steps:

• External callers: Dial main number > Press 9 > Dial 4-digit extension

• Internal callers: Pick up phone > Dial 4-digit extension

Let us know if there are any other equipment or phone-related tips that can be passed on. We are here to help!

Staff members that are using GoToMeeting and LogMeIn applications, please note: Cooke is discontinuing the use of those accounts.
